Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Andrew Lewis Sailing Academy / Foundation is a youth-focused sailing programme and community initiative based in Trinidad and Tobago. We exist to make sailing more accessible, more inclusive, and more meaningful—especially for young people who may not otherwise get the chance to step into a boat and discover what they’re capable of.
We deliver structured coaching, mentorship, and on-the-water training that builds confident sailors and strong citizens. From first-time beginners to competitive athletes, we develop skills, character, and a pathway to represent Trinidad and Tobago locally, regionally, and internationally. Our work includes school engagement, community outreach, clinics, camps, and regatta-style experiences—creating real opportunities for growth, teamwork, responsibility, and respect.
We’re also committed to para-inclusive sailing and creating evidence-based pathways for sailors with disabilities—because the sport belongs to everybody.
Our Story
Andrew Lewis, Kristof Stüven, Stefan Stüven and Simon Mungal built this academy around a simple belief: if you give young people the right environment, the right coaching, and the right support, they will rise.
What started as hands-on coaching and small-group training grew into a wider mission—developing sailors across the country, strengthening coaching standards, and opening (or reopening) sailing access points so more communities can get involved. With year-round sailing conditions and a strong culture of learning, Trinidad and Tobago is perfectly placed to produce both lifelong sailors and high-performance athletes.
Our journey has also been shaped by pushing inclusivity forward. Supporting Justin Bridgemohan to compete at the World Sailing Inclusive World Championship in Oman showed what’s possible when opportunity meets preparation—and it strengthened our commitment to expanding para pathways in the Caribbean.
Today, we operate with collaboration at our core, including close ties with the Southern Sailing Academy, and we continue working to grow sailing in communities like Port of Spain and Cocorite—while pushing wider expansion across the islands. Every clinic, every camp, every launch is part of the same mission: grow the sport, develop the youth, and build a sailing culture Trinidad and Tobago can be proud of.
