Refund Policy
A legal disclaimer
Effective Date: February 25, 2026
This Refund Policy applies to lessons, camps, term programmes, private sessions, events, memberships, and other services offered by Andrew Lewis Sailing Academy and Foundation (“ALSA/ALSF”).
By registering for or purchasing any ALSA/ALSF programme or service, you acknowledge and agree to this Refund Policy.
1. General Policy
Sailing and watersports activities are weather-dependent and safety-critical. As a result, all registrations, bookings, and payments made to ALSA/ALSF are subject to our operational, safety, and cancellation rules.
Unless otherwise expressly stated in writing by ALSA/ALSF:
-
all payments are non-refundable, and
-
any refund, credit, transfer, or make-up session is granted solely at the discretion of ALSA/ALSF.
2. Weather and Safety Cancellations
Sessions may be cancelled, postponed, shortened, relocated, or otherwise modified due to:
-
weather conditions,
-
sea state,
-
high winds,
-
lightning,
-
poor visibility,
-
rough seas,
-
official advisories,
-
or any other safety or operational concern.
In such cases:
-
no refunds will be issued,
-
and ALSA/ALSF may, at its discretion, offer:
-
a make-up session,
-
a credit,
-
a rescheduled session,
-
or an alternative land-based / substitute activity.
-
These alternatives are offered where possible and are not guaranteed.
3. Force Majeure / Events Beyond Our Control
ALSA/ALSF is not responsible for cancellations, delays, closures, interruptions, or changes resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
-
extreme weather,
-
natural disasters,
-
hurricanes,
-
flooding,
-
public health emergencies,
-
government restrictions,
-
civil unrest,
-
utility failure,
-
venue closure,
-
transport disruption,
-
or equipment failure required for safe operations.
In these cases:
-
refunds are not guaranteed,
-
and ALSA/ALSF may, at its discretion, offer credits, rescheduling, or other reasonable alternatives.
4. Participant Cancellations and Missed Sessions
If a participant misses or cancels a session due to:
-
personal scheduling conflicts,
-
illness,
-
travel,
-
late arrival,
-
no-show,
-
school commitments,
-
work commitments,
-
family matters,
-
or any other personal reason,
the session is non-refundable.
Credits, transfers, or make-up sessions may be considered only at the discretion of ALSA/ALSF and are not guaranteed.
5. Camps, Term Programmes, and Multi-Session Packages
For camps, term programmes, courses, and bundled session packages:
-
fees paid are generally non-refundable once the participant’s place has been reserved,
-
no partial refund will be given for:
-
missed days,
-
early withdrawal,
-
late arrival,
-
disciplinary removal,
-
illness,
-
or personal scheduling conflicts.
-
At ALSA/ALSF’s discretion, a participant may be offered:
-
a credit toward a future programme,
-
transfer to another available session,
-
or a make-up option,
but this is not guaranteed.
6. Private Lessons and Special Bookings
Private lessons, private group bookings, and specially scheduled sessions are non-refundable once confirmed, unless ALSA/ALSF determines otherwise.
If ALSA/ALSF must cancel a private booking for safety or operational reasons, we may offer:
-
rescheduling,
-
credit,
-
or an alternative arrangement,
but cash refunds are not guaranteed.
7. Membership Fees
Membership fees are generally non-refundable once processed.
If a membership is suspended, restricted, or cancelled due to:
-
misconduct,
-
breach of rules,
-
misuse of benefits,
-
unsafe conduct,
-
or non-compliance with ALSA/ALSF policies,
no refund will be issued.
8. Promotional Rates, Scholarships, and Sponsored Benefits
Payments made under:
-
discounted offers,
-
special promotions,
-
scholarships,
-
sponsor-supported programmes,
-
or subsidised booking arrangements
are also subject to this Refund Policy.
Misuse of promotional codes, discounts, or sponsor-supported benefits may result in:
-
cancellation of the booking,
-
loss of access to discounted pricing,
-
suspension from future programmes,
-
or refusal of service,
without refund.
9. Programme Modifications
ALSA/ALSF reserves the right to modify:
-
programme schedules,
-
instructors,
-
session length,
-
groupings,
-
venues,
-
activities,
-
or overall programme structure
where necessary for safety, quality, weather, or operational efficiency.
Such changes do not create an automatic right to a refund.
10. Transfers and Credits
Where ALSA/ALSF chooses to offer a credit or transfer:
-
the credit may be subject to an expiry period,
-
it may only be used by the original participant unless otherwise approved,
-
and it may only be applied to eligible programmes or services.
Credits have no cash value and are not redeemable for cash.
11. Processing of Approved Refunds
If ALSA/ALSF, in its sole discretion, approves a refund:
-
the refund may be processed to the original payment method where possible,
-
reasonable administrative or processing deductions may apply,
-
and processing timelines may vary depending on the payment provider or banking institution.
12. Final Decision
All decisions regarding refunds, credits, transfers, make-up sessions, and alternative arrangements are made by ALSA/ALSF in its sole discretion.
ALSA/ALSF’s decision on these matters shall be final.
